Day 03 → Your favorite television program
Okay, I'm going to stop being blatantly obvious at some point. Let's do something live action-y and more recent, perhaps? And that still ties into writing somehow... hoo...
Okay, well, it isn't one of my favorite favorites, but it is pretty awesome nonetheless.

Character-driven comedy, witty dialogue, and some very nice subtle character acting as well. But what the show really excels at is exposition.
I mean that totally non-sarcastically! I hate exposition. HATE IT. Reason being? It's rarely done well and tends to stick out like a sore thumb. Chuck, however, does it well.
The pilot episode is the best example - obviously, that would be the episode where you do all your setup, right? Within the first five minutes of Chuck you get everything you need to know about the main character, including his backstory, and it's presented organically and doesn't interrupt the flow of the show. Obviously they don't go into detail, but you know what? You don't have to. It's setup. And it's setup you didn't have to sit through for an entire episode. Quick, boom, done.
So props to Josh Schwartz (whose name you might recognize from The O.C. and Gossip Girl) and Chris Fedak. They done good. This is one of the better shows on TV.
For anyone interested - and I'd personally recommend at least watching the first five minutes - the pilot is available to view on Hulu until 1/15/10. Check it out.
