MEME TIME

Give me a pairing and I will tell you:
who is the big spoon/little spoon
what is their favorite non-sexual activity
who uses all the hot water in the morning
what they order from take out
what is the most trivial thing they fight over
who does most of the cleaning
what has a season pass in their DVR
who controls the netflix queue
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working
who steals the blankets
who leaves their stuff around
who remembers to buy the milk
who remembers anniversaries

You know the fandom. Feel free to give me multiple pairings IF YOU SO DESIRE.

(Only a few days left to enter the Letters to Santa theme at [profile] ppg_hub_drabble! Feed us your entries!)

A FANFICTION PRAISE MEME

I feel ridiculous posting this when you guys leave me such wonderful comments but I saw it posted on a friend's journal and thought, "Oh, what the hell."

(Click on "that's my favorite" to go to the thread and comment. Though you are also welcome to leave anonymous comments here if you like.)
essbeejay: i cannot go to bed, there is epic shit happening on the internet (the internet is srs bsns)
When I asked you guys to ask me about my Top Five Anythings, I think it's pretty safe to say I did not expect to be asked about my Top Five Sex Positions. And at first I was like “WHAAAA HOW DO I ANSWER THIS OH WAIT I KNOW.”

These would be the positions I find the sexiest when writing/reading fic. Granted, I do not read or write smut that often (and when I did read smut, most of it was either awful het!smut written by people who don't know the first thing about sex/fucking, or it was fic within slash fandom, particularly male!slash, which tended to be much more well-written but not as focused on position variation), so I can't speak to how legitimately sexy these positions are when they show up in fic, but there is something about them that pushes my personal buttons, and this list is an attempt to explain why.

A short disclaimer: I contemplated f-locking this entry due to the mature nature of the content, but ultimately decided against it. I'm not going into explicit detail here, and I'm also operating under the assumption that most of the folks who frequent this journal are mature enough (at least mentally) to handle someone talking about sex. Considering the content in some of my fic (none of which is locked), this entry is hardly anything to get worked up over. However, if you aren't comfortable with the topic of sex (which is totally fine!), you're free to skip over this if it makes you uncomfortable. I trust most of you can use your best judgment here.

Well, I hope that was educational. Remember: Use this information only for good. Never for evil. And person who asked - WELL I JUST HOPE THAT ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION.

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload) 5 songs you love that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

I totally flaked on this meme [personal profile] juxtaposie hit me with. She gave me the letter J, because she is a cruel wench.

BUT I SHOWED HER. Maybe later I'll upload these songs, but for now, you got youtube.

My picks are all over the place but know that I love them all. )

Continuing last week's meme entry, here are the remaining two of my Top Five Scenarios Involving the PpG/RrB in A Musical Montage. )

There's one more Top Fives meme I have to finish, but as it contains dirty items (AHEM PERSON WHO ASKED, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE *STERN LOOK*) I will be f-locking that entry next week. Not to worry! I will also post a public entry continuing the 30-Days meme I still have yet to finish.

I need to learn to condense. I'm just spending way too much time going SO IN DEPTH (!!!) on my insanity.

The final first part of the final (public-entry-friendly—more on this later) top five is my top five scenarios involving the PpG/RrB in a musical montage. Yeah, it's a mouthful! I've got to give the requester of this one kudos; it was certainly one of the more creative requests!

Ah, so... yeah, I have a ridick amount of scenarios in my head, actually. Most of them are the same thing, particularly the ones set to any j-pop song (most of those are action montages). Those are a lot of fun, but extremely difficult to describe, and I don't have the patience/skill to storyboard it out, much less time them to music. The rest of my montages fall into one of a few categories:
  • Actual storyline
  • Themed music video (scenes are thematically related but don't necessarily have an arc)
  • Self-conscious music video
The action montages can fall in either the first or second category. The first category sometimes becomes inspiration for actual fic. The second category is what I often use/listen to to convey a particular mood in a particular scene—I use them for fight scenes, specific character scenes, etc.. The third category is mostly me being silly (e.g., Townsville's villains dancing to B.E.G.'s “Abracadabra”). These are fun and stupid, frankly.

Due to their nature, these montages on the list fall into the first and third categories.

... Man, I'm not sure how I'm going to begin to describe these.

Okay dudes, imma have to finish this tomorrow. Plus the TEF trivia. PLUS my camera hookup is all wonky right now, so Saturday's “Show off my geek side” post is still delayed until I can get that working again.

Alright. I hate to admit it, but they're all animated. Again, I had to approach this first by figuring out what shows I repeatedly come back to, time and time again, and then by figuring out which ones have influenced me from a writing standpoint.

Top Five TV Shows (not including PpG) )

On the live action front, I also am in total love with Modern Family and Malcolm in the Middle, and Firefly is good and should be watched by, like, everybody, also I got pretty crazy about Dollhouse when I watched the DVDs (it gets really awesome you guys, trust me), and my favorite reality shows are The Amazing Race and Project Runway. SYTYCD would still be on the list if they hadn't changed their stupid fucking stage. I admit to still watching Grey's Anatomy, but I still hate it (and have ever since Season 2 ended).

I haven't gone to sleep yet! THIS STILL COUNTS AS A MONDAY.

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] alicornmoon, idea to plug nearly every damn thing (or at least the last ten) I've written in there ganked from [livejournal.com profile] bookshop.

The meme

Strength - I write like JKR
The Things That Stay With You, Little Boxes, Black Lace and Arsenic, In That Order, Losers Go to Cabo, BKS ch2, half of nearly everything else I dropped in from TEF - I write like Stephen King
The last Reds drabble I did - I write like Kurt Vonnegut (neat!)
Something Stupid, Concessions, The last part of the second chapter of TEF/More Than Human, the other half of nearly everything else I dropped in from TEF - I write like Chuck Palahniuk (totally makes sense for that part of TEF ch2)
Secret Santa - I write like Vladimir Nabokov
The Very Definition of Underestimating Someone - I write like George Orwell (OAO did not see that coming)
The second part of the first chapter of TEF/More Than Human - I write like J. D. Salinger
Remember this (note to self) - I write like H. P. Lovecraft
This last entry - I write like Shakespeare (BULLSHIT)
This other last entry - I write like Margaret Atwood
The first part of the first chapter of TEF/More Than Human - I write like Dan Brown (dying, oh God dying *stabs self* orz)

Mostly I was trying to see how many different writers I could get. 11, as it turns out. Though I'm curious as to how their algorithm-doohicky-majigger works. (Shakespeare? I mean, WTF.)

Still recovering from Dan Brown, what a blow to my pride

Although at least he only showed up once, thank God
