OR ARE WE DANCER/DENSER
Mar. 6th, 2018 11:19 pmThis is the newest addition to my PpG playlist. I'm lukewarm on the original – love The Killers' lyrics, but I don't love the production on the track itself. I can't quite identify what I consider “overproduced,” because I certainly love my share of tracks that are produced to hell. I guess in this case I must find it distracting from the core of the song itself. As soon as this came up on my radio I slammed that “+” button.
Human by Kim Petras (cover of The Killers) (Spotify link, sorry my peeps)
As it pertains to the Girls, I like how applying it to them shifts the perspective of the song. The line “Are we human” takes on a different meaning, and the rest of the song could be interpreted as a questioning of their heroism vis-a-vis their humanity.
(And on that note! “We” could refer to the trio collectively, but it could also refer to each individual girl's heroic self and her human self.)
(Also all of Kim Petras' singles are fantastic and everyone should listen to her)
