I feel like TV writers these days, especially those who write for big networks, don't respect their audience enough. It seems that they talk down to their viewers a lot by over explaining situations or jokes. Of course, this isn't limited to TV, but movies do this a lot. I wish writers would assume that their audiences are smart enough grasp context clues.
