Fun part about creative brains is that they never really stop creating. Better to get all the good ideas out in the world then let them wither and die, I always say (for the first time ever, just now)

As for monologues, Stellan Skarsgård's speech as Luthen Rael in Andor is a standout for me. The delivery is superb

I’ve always loved Cassie’s unhinged “I’ve never, EVER been happier!” monologue from Euphoria! Pretty sure I can quote it at the drop of a hat, lol!

At risk of exposing myself as a whatever, I one of my favorite dramatic monologues comes from the West Wing from the episode called Two Cathedrals when President Bartlet calls god a "feckless thug".

Another one that gets me from ER's episode On the Beach where Mark Green gives his last words to his daughter (the "Be Generous" speech).

I feel like TV writers these days, especially those who write for big networks, don't respect their audience enough. It seems that they talk down to their viewers a lot by over explaining situations or jokes. Of course, this isn't limited to TV, but movies do this a lot. I wish writers would assume that their audiences are smart enough grasp context clues.

My new favorite monologue is the one from the new murder mystery detective show The Residence, starring Uzo Aduba (think Knives Out, it's so funny and fun to watch). The final reveal speech she gives at the end about who the killer is and why they did it is so captivating and fun. I think most of it comes from Uzo's acting skills rather than the monologue writing itself, but still!

i have a couple of fav monologues! one of em is from Pearl the horror movie, it's so unsettling yet so good. my absolute fav is from Lisa Frankenstein where lisa chews a man out because only he can like "cool stuff" and NOT his girlfriend. it is so cathartic. another good one is mike's at the end of Stranger Things s4, finn wolfhard got to improv some of it and in my humble opinion, it encapsulates how mike doesn't "love" eleven (in a romantic way at least).

late to the conversation since i'm new to dreamwidth but a longtime fan of MTH (OTL but i'm only now making an account because of it looking like tumblr might be in the end days), but i'd say a dramatic monologue i really find hilarious is just the entire first chapter of my immortal. our girl ebony dark'ness dementia raven way will always be so famous
