oh shit it's valentine's day
it's valentine's day uhhhhh here have a cookie
it's reds and it's kissing, my favorite cookie flavor

“You wanted to impress me.”
He forced a snort, setting the block and knife back down on the counter. “More like I don’t want you to think I’m complete shit at—”
He turned and Blossom sidled close, her movement as smooth as ink or blood in water, and she caught his lips with hers, halting him in his tracks.
It felt like a spell. It felt like magic.
It was only a single peck at first. Her lips pulled away, but only for a second, then returned in the next instant, opening against his, and then it was deeper, warmer. Her arms went around him, her tongue slipped into his mouth. He couldn’t stifle his gasp.
Absolute magic, happening to him in real time.
His eyelids fluttered shut, and he let himself get sucked in, let himself kiss her back. His touch was hesitant on her waist at first, then braver, warming to the shape of her body, the curve of her back. The kiss deepened as they drew each other closer, impossibly close. Deeper, deeper still.
He felt his grip tightening and realized belatedly she was pulling away, the loss of her mouth on his leaving him feeling empty.
Those gorgeous lips moved, forming magnificent shapes. “What’s the timer for?”
He furrowed his brow, staring at the swell of her lips, warm and beckoning to him, even now. “Timer?” he whispered, still glazed, still magic-drunk. “What—”
The timer. The stove timer had just beeped. He was cooking them dinner. He was in Blossom’s apartment cooking her dinner and she had just kissed him.
“Sorry.” She pulled back a little more and now he realized how tightly he was holding her and he let her go. She swept a gorgeous lock of hair out of her gorgeous face. “I’m throwing off your rhythm. Sorry.”
But she didn’t look sorry at all.
