Getting a plot bunny outta my head (do the kids still say plot bunny)
I was re-reading an old Smut Peddler anthology and one of the stories kicked off a copycat idea for a Reds piece in my head. And since I have no intention of writing anything that's not TEF ch10a right now, I'll just get the basic haps out on metaphorical paper here so as not to distract myself further.
I hate to open with the "And they were ROOMMATES" cliche but fuck it, it ain't becoming a real story, so it's totes AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES
Blossom is functioning as Brick's keeper/handler in the aftermath of some hand-wavey villain reformation shit (or maybe he just got bored/is rebelling against Him by living a normie's life/darkest timeline version: Boomer and Butch died and now he doesn't wanna do the villain thing anymore, pick yer poison!), similar to TEF's setup except now they are actually living together. Undecided if Blossom has already graduated. I mean, probably. Anyway whatever.
So Brick has been going to college/uni long enough now that the initial concern about him being a threat has worn WAY off, so Blossom isn't escorting him to classes anymore, now they have more of a casual rapport (again, hand-wavey how we got there, but let's chalk it up to "maturity" or something) and he's getting into art and mildly panicking about what he's gonna do after he graduates and Blossom is there to listen or some shit and because she's Blossom she's kinda good at it but also because they're both kinda emotional dumbfucks all these conversations have had the side effect of them getting closer, possibly even being friendly, and leading up to an (if I were writing this story, that is) "off-screen" event that results in makeouts and heavy petting and some awkwardness afterwards. Maybe Brick was drunk, Blossom definitely wasn't, though. And he chalks it up to "well superbeings need to blow off steam" or something. He probably read about bonobos at some point in one of his classes and thought "shit that explains a lot." Because that seems like the kinda dumb shit Brick would latch on to in order to avoid thinking about getting romantically involved with anyone.
Meanwhile Blossom is fretting, mildly, because she wasn't drunk and she was into it but then there's the requisite "That was kind of taking advantage of him, and that's not cool," thought process she's going through, plus there's the weird power dynamic because she's supposed to be his keeper/handler and make sure he doesn't step out of line and revert back to villainy, etc., etc.. But she also kinda likes him and they've been talking a lot and so she has a better understanding of him (and since puberty has passed her brain isn't doing all the weird chemical shit that fucks up your hormones and emotions during your teenage years) and she recognizes that she would maybe like to pursue a relationship with this Disaster Person and they could be a Disaster Couple together. That is, assuming Brick even wants that in the first place.
Okay so that's our set up. If I were to write this (which I will not, btw, note to self), I'd open the story after all this. I wouldn't want to put all the setup right at the beginning, but probably reveal bits of it/allude to it throughout the story. It would probably open on a phone convo b/w Blossom & Bubbles where they talk about mundane shit but then Bubbles asks how everything's been since last weekend (the Kissing/Earnest Groping event) and Blossom's like Yikes man I am still shockingly all about it but idk if he's into it. But anyway reminder, not writing this. Nope.
So Brick gets back from either class or a life-drawing session (because of course he's an artist in my version, Brick is always gonna be one I guess from now until forever, also Blossom trusts him enough to leave him be; up until last week she was probably still escorting him to and from campus but now things are kind of awwwwwwwwwkward) and he's getting the artist thing but how do you make a living off of that, it's another thing contributing to his anxiety about graduating in a year or so, also things with Blossom are kinda weird now but he's just gonna put that off to the side because that's too much for his brain to cope with and thinking about her makes his heart hurt and seriously, it's too much, literally too much for him to deal with.
And Blossom meanwhile has been peeking at his sketches and that's contributing to the whole "I am getting more into this guy, oh no, help" thing, and anyway when he comes back they do their usual catch up talk about how the day went, and she comments on his sketches and he unloads some of his anxiety but reveals that the drawing really does seem to help him release some of that, and he wants to do more life drawing sessions at some point because he gets a lot of mileage out of that, but it's probably gonna be another month or so and Blossom gets a crazy idea (probably planted by Bubbles during the phone convo that opened the story) and says "Well why don't I pose for you"
Okay there's more but I'll finish writing it up later, I need to go grocery shopping now like an adult
