Lots of posting either means things have calmed down i(my)rl, or I'm just blatantly avoiding all of my rl obligations! (It's a combination, but mostly the former, so yay!)

Maybe this was kind of fortuitous. When I was purchasing my most recent Declaration of Nerddom, Hot Topic was (for once!) playing a surprisingly listenable album!

"Excuse me, I need to give you money for this awesome shirt that I need or else I will die. Also a purple fedora. Yes, I know it was in the guy section. W/E, it's purple. Also plaid. Also who is this?" I asked the cashier.

"It is Neon Trees! It is awesome and we are out of their album," said Cashier.

So a couple of days later I look them up to see if they're still listenable (verdict: yes) and have it going in the background and then my brain starts doing that I'M-A-GIANT-NERD thing it always does and well now basically yeah more song recs.

This is the one that seems to have been playing everywhere (you may have even heard it on a super classy advertisement for Las Vegas). At first I just liked it, and then I wondered if Boomer would make No Neck Joe play it for Bubbles, and then I actually listened to the lyrics and heard Take a bite of my heart tonight and realized, "Oh. Never mind. It's Butch to Buttercup."

I mean, Here we go again, we're sick like animals, we play pretend, you're just a cannibal and I'm afraid I won't get out alive? I feel the chemicals kicking in... And I won't be denied by you, the animal inside of you? Fuck, and there are some pretty particular parts of this that could be his theme song for TEF. OH WAIT, WAS THAT A SPOILER. (Not really.)

And then I queued up In the Next Room, and basically went OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE YOU'RE JOKING. Because this is practically a Reds!scene from TEF that hasn't even made it to beta yet.

So this was my thought process while watching "Animal":
Ooh, hot lead singer! Female drummer!
Are they destroying artworks D: !? With Kryolan spray paint*?! Unsure if want.
...FUCK IT. HOT LEAD SINGER. FEMALE DRUMMER.
ITUNES MONEY THAT MY PARENTS HAVE BEEN BUGGING ME TO SPEND**, MEET YOUR NEXT REINCARNATION.
(this is why I usually avoid watching music videos before I know I actually like the musical stylings of a band, hahahha)

*Is it sad that I was disappointed by the use of cheap, uneven Kryolan rather than superiorly smooth Montana Gold spray paint? I rationalized that it was to fit the whole defacing of pretentious art thing._{architecture has ruined me}

**I might be one of the few people I know whose parents routinely have to remind to spend money that they have given me, this being because 1. I am a cheapskate and picky about, like, everything, so I try and squirrel away money til I'm sure I'll like something. Commitment phobe much.

Hot Topic makes me go le sigh, but I forgive them, I guess, since they stock Manic Panic sometimes and cool/geek things most of the time.

I personally think that "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" fits the Reds very well (gosh, even the name XP). There's this one little part that goes, "anything you can wear, I can wear better" and the female singer mentions his hat, and the male singer just goes "NO YOU'RE NOT!!!!!!!!!" though that's more of a silly fic ^^
