Oh hey remember this thing

Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)

I was trying to come up with something PpG-related that I haven't already pimped out or that hasn't already been seen by all of you, which is hard! But I think I came up with something.

Back in the good ol' days C*N had this section of their website called Dept. of... something. I think it was DoC? Dept. of Cartoons? ANYWAY. What they used to have in that section (before they decided to stop paying attention to the animation buffs and aged their site down for the kids) were scans of various production art from various shows. One of those shows was the PpG.

They had stuff up there like samples of storyboards (including a small segment from The Rowdyruff Boys), character model sheets, poses, etc. My absolute favorite thing that got posted were the Do's and Don'ts for the Girls. (These are created as a sort of guideline on how to draw the characters during animation for the overseas studio, so when the animation comes back the characters don't look all off-model and shitty.)

I freaked out when I couldn't find these on my comp (had to do major surgery on my laptop a while back and of course inevitably lost some data), but I managed to locate them again! Yay internet!

SO. This is moderately image-heavy.

(This is my favorite page; I love that McCr*cken uses that sock full of wet sand example ♥)

And just as a bonus, here are some pose sheets (obviously from the first What-a-Cartoon! short, but it looks like they adopted these for the start of the series as well).

I love the downshot on the Girls in the upper left; the perspective is absolutely perfect. And FUCK Bubbles is ADORABLE, just look at her PRECIOUS FACE AUGH

This is my favorite pose sheet. I adore action poses, and there are some really wonderful (and very clear!) lines of action going on here!

I compressed these lo-res (150 dpi) .jpg files from hi-res (300 dpi) .tiff files. The entire hi-res set (including these files and character model sheets) can be found at animationmeat.com.
