Dude, you and I are some much on the same level, it scares me. Seriously, there's a scene in Taking Responsibility that I wrote so many months ago that has Blossom confessing about the pressures of being a leader:

Blossom mumbled, so quiet that it would have been inaudible if Buttercup didn't have such sensitive hearing, "I'm scared."

"Of what?"

"Everything," groaned the tired leader. "I feel so much pressure, Buttercup, about everything. I have to be perfect all the time because if I mess up, then not only am I going to pay the price, but you girls and the humans will as well. Do you know what it's like to constantly have to be on top of everything, fearless and hardened against anything that can come your way? It's not a pleasant feeling."

Buttercup frowned. "Nobody tells you to be that way."

Blossom snorted indignantly. "Maybe not, but what do you think would happen if I slipped up once? Need I remind you about the time I nearly blew it with catching Brick's attention and your reaction to it?"

And I'm completely in love with the Reds for the very same reasons you described. I mean, emos can piss me off (oooh...Sasuke, I did like you until you became a whiny little bitch about everything), but the angst-ridden relationship of Blossom and Brick is just too epic to turn down. Seriously. I fangirl'ed throughout TEF, and let me tell you, sbj, Somewei doesn't do "fangirl" unless it's worth it xD

If you ever read the Reds section of my recent post "Relationships via Dancing" (or something like that, haha), you'll notice that I wrote about the same type of tension between them: predatory at first until it becomes something where they have feelings for each other, but have nowhere to place it because they refuse to place it on each other.

Seriously, though, I'm glad you defended Blossom. She's been my favorite since I first saw her. Probably because I stood up for kids getting picked on when I was little (as a result got bullied and ostracized) and because I was always the "naggy", bookworm leader of my friends. Go Blossom!
