I just saw The Muppets yesterday, so now you guys get to deal with it

I swear to God I cried like five times during The Muppets. Not even joking. It just pushed my Nostalgia Button, HARD. I didn't even realize I had a Muppet Nostalgia Button.

Along that vein, I figured, you know, I have a couple of Muppets songs on my PpG playlists (lol I know, I know, everything gets tied back to the PpG, HELLO WELCOME TO THE STORY OF MY LIFE).

I have to admit that my memory of the original movies from the 70s/80s is very fuzzy, so most of the songs on my playlists are the ones refreshed by The Muppets and The Green Album (aka Muppet Hipster Album). I couldn't find videos/links for everything, so you'll just have to deal :[

Let's start with something silly.

So, is this totally Professor Utonium's jam or what? (The version covered by Matt Nathanson on The Green Album is very sweet as well, but the references to specific breeds of dog might make you want to re-think it for Talking Dog.)

Well, the obvious choice is Buttercup, and then the next obvious choice is the Gangreen Gang, so just throw it all together and start it off with Buttercup at the head, then bring in the GGG continually interjecting to screw up her solo endeavor. And she beats them up at the end. Because good things always end in violence for me.

Can this just be a giant villain medley with Him taking, like, every good part? (Which is admittedly the entire song, BUT NOW YOU UNDERSTAND MY POINT)

Rowdyruff Boys, but especially TEF!RrB. And especially the awesome pop-punky cover by Alkaline Trio on The Green Album. (It's pretty much just Butch and Boomer doing the road song thing most of the time while Brick tries to get them to focus. Though the last line is ALL Brick's.)

There is one clip floating around Youtube of the segment of The Muppet Show featuring Gonzo's "Wishing Song" (with Madeline Kahn); just give it a listen and pair it with Mojo. And then end it with him trying to destroy Townsville. (I mean it, violence = good ending) WHY CAN'T THIS CLIP BE ON ITS OWN ON YOUTUBE

Okay, sad stuff now. In my head I've got an older Blossom reflecting on the superheroic days of her childhood/being with her family/before things changed/go wherever you want with it as long as there's something bittersweet and at least a little tragic about it. Rachel Yamagata's cover of it on The Green Album really sells the scene.

I always save the Bubbles songs for the end because you always save the best for last. This song is so totally her. I wish I could've found the cover that Weezer and Hayley Williams did for The Green Album, because there's something so untouchable about Kermit's original. A ton of people have done lovely covers of this song.

I won't be uploading these, because The Green Album and The Muppets soundtrack are both available on Amazon right now as MP3 downloads for very cheap ($3.99 and $4.99, respectively) and if people have the cash to spare they should totally go buy these especially The Green Album because that is good money well spent and The Muppets deserve all the monies.

So. Blame the new movie. And go see it if you have any nostalgia for the Muppets, at all. Oh God I haven't been able to listen to Rainbow Connection without tearing up for the past 24 hours. SERIOUSLY GO SEE THE MUPPETS
